iOS 9 it is. With the tag line "Better experience in every touch", apple is back with bunch of new features that promises to offer a better user experience. Will it really be better? lets find out...
The iOS update includes 5 major upgrades:
1) Built-In apps.
2) Ipad experience or you can say Multitasking.
3) Smart and better Siri.
4) Software tweaks for better battery and performance.
5) Security changes.
1) Built-In apps:
i) News: This app is a newbie to iOS but if you are using android smartphone, it will be somewhat similar to the news stand from google. Will check that out in the hands on of the os.
ii) Notes: With new notes app, users will be able to add photos, checklists to their notes. It also provides provisions for text formatting features. Hope it comes up with new Notes experience.
iii) Maps: Frankly speaking, nothing new.
iv) Wallet: This app features apple pay support to make purchases with discover cards or store credit cards. This will make buying and selling a easier task in short.
v) Carplay: This feature is for the cars with high end systems sporting support for the iphone wireless connectivity. Various apps that are compatible with both system and iphone can be streamed on live for eg. Maps.
2) Multitasking:
Note that its an ipad exclusive, you wont get it over iphone which makes most of us unhappy. Never the less, apple has included slide over, split view and picture in picture features for ipad multitasking. It would have been great if these were included with iphone too.
Also, apple has added a Quick type feature which provides one touch access to all sorts of text communication. This too by the way is ipad exclusive.
3)Smart and better siri:
Siri, the most talk about search partner or you can say artificial intelligence will be more powerful, accessible and decorative in some sense. It will enhance user experience with small tweaks which will be soon known to us
4) Software tweaks:
1 hour of more battery life, faster ui, better space optimization are included in software tweaks. The os will occupy only 1.23gb of the total phone memory which earlier was 4.23 gb. kudos apple!!
5) Security:
iOS 9 will prove a 6 pin passcode system for the primary security functioning which earlier was a 4 pin passcode. Two factor authentication also included.
6) Android Migrate:
Well its for the user who is currently using an android device and wants to opt for iphone. Android Migrate will help to move your stuff from Android to iOS without any hassles and that too securely. Nice catch there.
Supported devices:
Generation on and after iphone 4S
Summing up, we like these features but as an android user, nothing new to me. Why should i go with iOS? Well lets not compare things here. Soon will release a post about a detailed comparison on iOS 8 vs iOS 9 vs Android. Stay tuned.
